Durga Prasad Shrestha, eminent literary figure and editor of Varanasi (UP) based Nepali daily “Uday” will be receiving 17th Parasmani Puraskar on January 26, 2014.
The prestigious literary award will be given to Durga Prasad Shrestha for his dynamism in Nepali literature in-spite of being an active writer in Hindi literature. Durga Prasad Shrestha has published around 15 books in Nepali until now, which include collections of short stories, poems, critic writings, biographies and others. He has also been honored by the Uttar Pradesh government for his collection of short stories “Sattare Mausi”. He has also received “Kusumkumari Puraskar” at international level and “Bhanu Puraskar” from Deharadun.
Durga Prasad Shrestha is wholeheartedly devoted to the editing and publishing of Udaya—a magazine with historical value for Nepali literature. In an article titled “The Varanasi connection” on The Kathmandu Post, he has stated “I want to continue working for Udaya for my love and respect for Nepali literature that I inherited from my father.”
